The Reunion of Morrígan and and Dagda

Performance description
This performance is steeped in Celtic mythology surrounding the story of Morrígan and Dagda.
It is a powerful, immersive performance exploring pre-colonial Ireland where the land was sacred and power was shared between the Gods, nature and people.
The piece transitions from war to unity symbolizing the loss and reclamation of sovereignty, paganism and matriarchal balance.
Central themes of our performance include death, rebirth, coming alive of nature, spring and the cycle of life.

Our debut performance was written by Chloe McCann, visionary and creative director of the piece, and co-produced together with Savita Vanessa Franklin, resulting in a great creative partnership.
The process of developing and choreographing the performance was a collaborative one where dancers had creative freedom and choreographed together according to McCann’s vision resulting in a rich and dynamic performance.

The reunion of Morrígan and Dagda merges a dazzling mix of comtemporary dance, fusion bellydance, acrobatic yoga and theatrics, incorporating a wide range of props including swords, spears, veils, ropes as well as branches and natural materials.
